About Us
Snapmaker
"Snap" means the flash of inspiration.
"Maker" is someone who turns ideas into reality.
Snapmaker is how we take these elements and express our vision together.

We brought toolchanging to everyone.
For ten years, Snapmaker has worked on one idea — change the tool, not the machine. In 2025, Snapmaker U1 made toolchanging something you can put on your desk.

Snapmaker U1 on Kickstarter: 20,680 backers and $20.6M raised — the most-funded 3D printer campaign in Kickstarter history.

What is a toolchanger?
Most multi-color printers use one nozzle and swap the filament. With every color change, the old filament needs to be purged, creating significant waste that can sometimes outweigh the printed model itself. Residual color can also carry over into the next print.

A toolchanger doesn't swap filament. It swaps the whole toolhead — Snapmaker U1 uses four independent toolheads, each with its own nozzle and filament path. No purge between color changes. No color carryover from a shared nozzle. It changes tools in five seconds.

Ten years of changing tools.
2017
Snapmaker Original
One machine, three tools. Swapping the head was the founding idea. $2.28M from 5,050 backers.

2019
Snapmaker 2.0
Modular, done properly. $7.85M — a Kickstarter record for 3D printing at the time.

2022
Snapmaker J1
Two independent extruders. The step from swapping tools to running them side by side.

2023
Snapmaker Artisan
The 3-in-1 platform at its most capable — 3D printing, laser tools, and CNC carving.

2025
Snapmaker U1
Four independent toolheads. Five-second changes. $20.6M from 20,680 backers — the most-funded 3D printer in Kickstarter history.

We build what we design.
Design, firmware, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing — in-house, in Shenzhen. For us, this isn't a preference; it's a requirement. Snapmaker U1 shows why: its four toolheads dock thousands of times, so holding tight tolerances demands that the people who design them also build them.

Snapmaker U1:
· Automatic multi-toolhead alignment to 0.04 mm
· Lab-tested for 1,000,000+ tool swaps with zero mechanical failures

You are Snapmaker.
More than 100,000 Snapmakers on all seven continents — children learning to model, hobbyists printing miniatures, racing teams making parts in their own workshops.

You'll find us on the forum, on Reddit, on Discord, and meeting up in real life — sharing what we make and encouraging each other to Make Something Wonderful.
